MDQ would like to remind you that our upcoming fundraiser is on Friday, September 03 during the taraweeh prayer. This is the only time throughout the year where we ask our brothers and sisters for their generous contributions to help keep their masjid functioning for the year.
Imam Abdul Malik will be the keynote speaker at the fundraiser. He will also give Khutbah of Jummah tul widah on September 03.

Donate items to Pakistan

MDQ is collecting items to send to Pakitan; All these items can be stocked at Masjid after proper packing. Please watch following video - What to donate, how to pack and send goods to Pakistan.

Ramadan Starts on August 11,2010

Going with the Fiqh Council of North America (ISNA), Masjid Darul Quran has announced August 11 as the first day of Ramadan. First salat al taraweeh will be held on the night of Tuesday, August 10 at 9.30 pm.
Three Huffaz,namely; Br. Saad Rabbani,Br.Raashid Ashiq and Hafiz Nauman Elahi will lead salat al Taraweeh at the MDQ.

Ramadan - Community Iftar

MDQ congregation has decided unanimously to divert all monies needed for community dinner towards "Pakistan Flood Fund". IFTAR on a much smaller scale will still be available at MDQ for those who are attending mosque at that time.

Shaikh Ibraheem Aldardasawi recites the Quran at MDQ

A well known Qari from Jordan, Shaikh Ibraheem al Dardasawi will recite the Quran on Friday, September 03 at 1.00 pm just before the Khutbah of Jumah tul Widah. The khutbah of Jumuah will be given by a distinguished youth speaker Imam Muhammad Abdul Malik. Shaikh al Dardasawi is visiting New York in connection with leading Salat al Taraweeh at a masjid at Hillside Ave. New Hyde Park.

OPEN HOUSE AT MDQ

On Friday,July 30, an Open House was set up at the MDQ which was attended by 27 non Muslim friends.Guests from Police department and interfaith groups visited the MDQ. Imam Muhammad Abdul Jabbar welcomed the guests and introduced the guest spesker, Imam Abdul Malik. Imam Abdul Malik traced the common grounds between Christins, Jews and the Muslims.Imam introduced Islam and urged the guests to get information through reliable resources instead of biased and Islamophobic media. Refreshments and dinner was served to the guests.

IMAM MALIK SPEAKS TO YOUTH AT MDQ

Imam Abdul Malik is an American Muslim youth and a motivational speaker . He is greatly inspired by the thought of late MALCOM X.
He will conduct following program on July 28-30 at the MDQ The theme of his series of presentations is “ Our youth –Our future”:
July 28 Wednesday 10 am-12 noon Islam stands for change
July 29 Thursday 10 am-12 noon Facing challenges of Western civilization
July 30 Friday 10 am -12 noon Islam made me strong

Imam Abdul Malik will be the chief guest at Graduation Ceremony of the Summer Camp to be held at MDQ at 10.00 am to 12.00 noon.

Saturday, July 24 after salat al Fajr he will talk on the topic “An ideal Muslim in the light of the Quran” Breakfast will be served for halaqa attendees

 He will talk about the topic “Motivating young hearts to positive ways” with theMuslim Youth. 10:ooam-12:00noon

Altaf Husain is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and a double alumnus of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, having earned his B.S. in biomedical engineering and his M.S. in Social Work. He received his Ph.D. in Social Work from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Husain's research interests include the integration of immigrant and refugee families, and especially Muslim adolescents, in the United States. He is a former two-term national president of the Muslim Students Association (MSA National); a former executive committee member of the Muslim Alliance in North America (MANA); a faculty member of COMPASS - the state of the art management training program of MSA National; a board member and chair of the Leadership Development Committee of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and a board member of the Peaceful Families Project - dedicated to the prevention of domestic violence.
