The Masjid Darul Quran Bay shore offers condolences to the families and loved ones of the shooting victims who were senselessly killed near the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill campus.
According to media reports, three American Muslim college students: Deah Shaddy Barakat , a graduate student at UNC-Chapel Hill, his wife Yusor Abu-Salha, and her sister, Razan Abu-Salha, were all found death in a condo near the campus yesterday evening. Craig Stephen Hicks, who self identifies as an "anti-theist," surrendered to police and has been charged with first-degree murder.
Br. Riad Khawam, President MDQ, Imam Muhammad Abdul Jabbar and Dr. Hafeez ur Rahman, Member BOAT of the Masjid have strongly condemned this incident and expressed condolences to the bereaved families. A special dua session was held at the MDQ today for the late students.
Meanwhile, Mr. Steven Bellone, Suffolk County Executive has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of this shocking incident. He informed that the Suffolk County Police Department will reach out to members of the Muslim community to reassure them that the safety of all its residents continues to be our highest priority.
